Jack White Rips Trump Campaign for Posting Band's Song: 'Don't Even Think About Using My Music, You Fascists'

The White Stripes frontman denounced the use of "Seven Nation Army" in a video montage for the former president's 2024 campaign announcement

Jack White has slammed the Trump campaign for using his band The White Stripes' song "Seven Nation Army" in a video montage for the former president's 2024 campaign announcement. The musician took to social media on Tuesday (Nov. 15) to express his outrage, calling the move "a blatant attempt to appropriate my music for political purposes" and likening the campaign to "fascists."

The statement from Jack White on Twitter:

"I want to make it very clear that I do not want my music to be used in any way with this campaign," White wrote. "The use of 'Seven Nation Army' in this campaign is a blatant attempt to appropriate my music for political purposes, and I will not allow it." He continued, "This song was written from the heart, and it's meant to be used for good, not for the propagation of hate and division. I will not be associated with this campaign in any way, and I urge my fans to do the same."

The Trump campaign has not yet responded to White's statement.

The use of music without permission in political campaigns is a common occurrence, but it can be particularly controversial when the artist in question is outspokenly opposed to the candidate. In this case, White's denunciation of the Trump campaign is likely to resonate with many of his fans, who may be more likely to vote against Trump as a result.

It remains to be seen whether the Trump campaign will continue to use "Seven Nation Army" in its campaign materials. However, White's statement makes it clear that he will not tolerate the unauthorized use of his music for political purposes.
