Busch Earns Player of the Week Honors
Chicago Cubs first baseman Michael Busch has been named the National League Player of the Week for the period ending July 30, 2023. Busch batted .455 (10-for-22) with two home runs, six RBIs, and a 1.227 OPS in six games last week.
The 25-year-old Busch is enjoying a breakout season with the Cubs, batting .303 with 15 home runs and 55 RBIs in 85 games. He has been a key part of the Cubs' resurgence this season, as the team is currently in contention for a wild-card berth.

- Went 3-for-4 with a home run and two RBIs in a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 25.
- Hit a solo home run in a loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on July 26.

Busch's performance last week earned him his first career Player of the Week award. He is the first Cubs player to win the award since Kris Bryant in 2016.
