Vinnie HRs Twice as Royals Roll Past Tigers

Kansas City Royals rookie sensation Bobby Witt Jr. made history Wednesday as he became the youngest position player in Royals history to start on Opening Day. The 21-year-old shortstop lived up to the hype, going 2-for-5 with two homers, a double, and four RBIs as the Royals cruised to a 9-2 victory over the Detroit Tigers.

Witt's performance marked the first time in Royals history that a player had two homers and four RBIs on Opening Day. He joins an exclusive club of players who have achieved the 20-20 feat in their first career game, including Mike Trout and Bryce Harper.

The Royals' victory was also a special moment for Witt and his father, Bobby Witt Sr., who was drafted by the Royals with the third overall pick in 1985. The duo became the first father-son combination to be drafted in the top five picks of the MLB Draft, making it a truly historic night for the Witt family.
